AMC ANNUAL QUIZ - YOUNG ADULT FELLOWSHIP DOES WELL!

Annual Quiz at AMC. It's always a big deal for the simple reason that all age groups participate. We, as Young Adults, took up the challenge of reading and participating in the quiz. This time the bible portion was RUTH and MATTHEW.

Felicia Akka has been an inspiration from the very beginning of YAF. She managed to put together a team of five. Jenita, David, Prason, Jyotsna and Felicia Akka herself.

We managed to do well by God's grace, bagging the 3rd place, next to Sunday School and Women's Fellowship.

Is the quiz just to bag a prize? Did God talk to you through His word? Are we ready to apply it in our lives? Let's hear it out from our very participants.

JYOTSNA NIRANJAN

Two things that struck with me- Jesus said do unto others as you would have them do to you as the most important commandment. This lays down exactly how we should treat and think before we act. Second the mention of the women in the genealogy- rahab, tamar, Ruth, bethseba and Mary. All were four simple women some had a questionable past. Shows that God truly honours those that we think are the least before us

JENITA SELWIN

This was my first attempt praise God for a wonderful team. You all inspired me a lot. My personal lesson was Jesus emphasised faith through many parables specially Peter walking on water. With God we can do any thing that encouraged me.

PRASON CHRISTOPHER ROBIN

My personal lesson was from Matthew 9: 9 - the man behind the letter. He just left his table and implicitly followed Jesus and also gave us this wonderful book that helped us to relive the life of Jesus in the last 2 weeks.

DAVID JAYAPRAKASH JOHN

1 Jesus was anointed at house of Simon the Leper. Leprosy was considered a cursed disease UNTOUCHABLE. This shows the character of JESUS that we shouldn't have any reservations whatsoever when we mingle with people.

2 our first question today. Jesus has authority to forgive sins. Satan tries to deceive us by bringing guilt,   hindering our walk. A truth revealed in MATTHEW is Jesus has absolute authority over all sin once we repent.

FELICIA AKKA

There were several points in which the Holy spirit ministered as I prepared for the quiz. High lighting 2 key points - 1. Rahab's son was Boaz - A man of Integrity,  fear of God and high standards of morality. So contrary to today's world that presumes that a child's character gets questionable based on the parents impared past.  Our dear Lord chooses to blot out all transgressions of the past and bless our generation - when we take a stand for Him - like Rahab

2. In Mathew 10, the Lord tells his disciples not to take a bag, change of clothes, sandals etc...as they travel for ministry. Was wondering if I would ever have the faith to follow such an instruction from the Lord  - not carry baggages but simply Trust.

It's encouraging to hear how God used this time to assure and teach His children.

STAYING FOCUSED ON JESUS

The AMC young adults, though a busy bunch still made time to fellowship with one another. Thanks to the efforts of dear sister Felicia. Thank you Akka. Jesus loves you.

Ok. Ten of us, including Hosanna😍, gathered in the basement of AMC. I love the basement area because we'll be truly cut off from the outside world with no mobile network. That's what surprisingly is the need of the hour. Turning our focus to Jesus and shutting other disturbances.

Sarah Paul Singh Akka was the speaker for the day and I'll be sharing the gleanings from the message.

Read Matthew 10:39

"Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it."

Yes, many a time we forget how much blessed we are. It's idolatry to enjoy the blessings and ignore the blesser!

Sarah Akka came up with a small model

The fringes of this model are marked with WORLD, WORK and WORRIES. If our focus is on the fringes, we will end up missing the bullseye.

The next level which can take away our focus is RELATIONSHIPS. Yes relationships are absolutely important and we just can't ignore them. But we shouldn't allow it to shift our focus.

Jim Elliot, missionary to tribal village in Ecuador, Huaorani, arrived with his friends. They arrived with a hope to spread the Gospel. The local people out there killed Jim and his friends. They were martyred for Christ. The news left the young wives beleaguered as they just realised they've been widowed. But this did not hinder their determination to continue the ministry. The young women travelled back to the village where their husbands were killed and preached the good news. This time the people accepted Jesus. Today the people from this village are the torchbearers for numerous people groups in South America.

We see here the primary focus of the missionaries was Jesus.

Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Romans 6 13
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

A surrendered life is all about trust.

Ps 37:4
Take delight in the Lordand he will give you the desires of your heart.

We need to be joyful in the Lord. That's a good thing for a believer to do. In my opinion it is a must.

Psalm 1:2-3

but whose delight is in the law of the Lordand who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a treeplanted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.

So let's FOCUS on JESUS no matter what we go through in this life.
